The Executive and members of the Alliance For Change Party extend sincere condolences to the family members, relatives and friends of Toshao Shaun Kartright of Karasabai, Region #9, who was called to be with the Ancestors yesterday.
Our deepest condolences too, to Toshao Marlon Edwards and the people of Karasabai.
Toshao Shaun Kartright was a man of vision, courage and determination who ably represented his people during his time as Toshao. He advocated for betterment for his community so that his people could benefit from an improved standard of living – be it potable water, seeking an alternative route to travel during the rainy season, getting assistance for farmers or ensuring that youth were occupied in a positive way, to name a few. He was a kind, friendly and hardworking man who was well respected and loved in his community.
Being a fluent speaker of the Makushi language Toshao Shaun Kartright communicated easily with his people. His fairness and gentle patience shone through everyday, and especially when he would take his time to explain to the elderly in the Macushi language, so that they too could understand and be a part of an event.
Toshao Shaun Kartright was always available for his people, before and after his stint as Toshao, to give advice or to assist in any other way.
He loved his family dearly and they loved and respected him.
He also courageously represented his Party, the AFC and for that we are very grateful.
Toshao Shaun Kartright was a very special person and will be missed.
Travel safe our brother, you have a lot to tell the Ancestors.
