On the auspicious occasion of Youma Nabi (or Mawlid Al Nabi), the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, the AFC wish all Guyanese and the Muslim community in particular, a blessed and happy Youma Nabi.
Muhammad was indeed a great prophet who has inspired not only Muslims but non Muslims alike. He successfully fought and replaced tribal loyalty with equality for all. To achieve this, he had to defeat all those who were pretending to look after the interest of the poor and the down trodden and did the opposite.
He was uncompromising in the fight against greed, crime, corruption, anti-social activities, exploiters at all levels, and those who have benefited from such activities.
As we celebrate Youma Nabi in 2010, the AFC urges all Guyanese to do the same as the Holy Prophet did in AD.588-632, to unite with all the democratically minded Guyanese, to organise, to be fearless of the enemy and get rid of the evils, unfairness and greed that polluted our society for so long.
