As we prepare to celebrate Diwali – the Festival of Lights, the Alliance For Change sends special Diwali greetings to our Hindu brothers and sisters and to all Guyanese.
As we all enjoy the beauty of this festival, the traditional lighting of diyas with family and friends and the viewing of the symbolic parade of light, but let us also reflect on the religious importance of Diwali, the significance of darkness being replaced by light and the triumph of goodness over evil.
We recognise that Diwali is a celebration of life itself and that the lights and diyas represent hope for all humankind regardless of faith or ethnicity. The AFC encourages Guyanese of all faiths to assist in removing the darkness and evil that plagues some of our communities and to work towards strengthen family and social relationships in the spirit of Diwali.
