On October 29, the Party has the distinct honour of celebrating 20 strong years of service to the people of Guyana. This celebration has come at a poignant time when we are coming to terms with the disappointing results at the recent General and Regional Elections. However, this is not a time for moaning and groaning. We have a proud record of service to stand by. The people of Guyana obviously expected something different than what we offered, and it is our duty to analyse, reflect, learn, adjust, pivot, and come again.
In a statement released to mark the occasion, the Party stated: “In a released statement, the Party observed that: From the moment of its founding, the AFC emerged as a beacon of hope for those who demanded accountable governance, an end to division, and a fair share in the nation’s prosperity. Together with our supporters, we confronted entrenched systems, overcame formidable obstacles, and achieved historic successes at the polls. Through coalition governance, legislative advocacy, and community engagement, the AFC has helped reshape political discourse and expand democratic space in Guyana… This twentieth anniversary therefore represents a pivotal period of inflection…Resilience, vision, and determination remain the foundation upon which the AFC will rebuild and regain its rightful place as a strong national representative in the ongoing struggle for a just, equitable, and prosperous Guyana. The values that inspired this movement in 2005 continue to guide our efforts today: unity, integrity, inclusivity, and fearless advocacy for the rights and dignity of all Guyanese.” Long Live the AFC!!!
