The AFC is shocked at the allegations being leveled against its former CEO Mr. Peter Ramsaroop. Mr. Ramsaroop has denied these allegations and the Party expects that a thorough and professional investigation would be conducted and that it will be free from political direction.
The Party has also noted recent erroneous press reports, which suggest that Mr. Ramsaroop was asked to resign from his position as CEO. As part of its ongoing preparations for upcoming elections, the Party commissioned an Organisation and Management Review which was conducted by a Consultant during the first quarter of this year. The Consultancy Report recommended that the functions and responsibilities of the CEO be reposed in the office of the General Secretary. Mr. Ramsaroop has since submitted his resignation from that position in order to allow the smooth transition and implementation of the recommendations contained in that report, and re-assignment under the new dispensation, and remains a member of the AFC.
The AFC will pay special attention to the manner in which the investigation is conducted and would expect that all rights to which Mr. Ramsaroop is entitled as a citizen of Guyana, will be afforded him.
End.
