AFC Bid Farewell to Elder Member Boyo Ramsaroop (May 17, 1938-March 20, 2010)
The AFC said farewell and celebrated the wonderful life of its Elder member Mr. Boyo Ramsaroop on Sunday 28 March, 2010 at a celebratory service held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Sherriff Street. The service was followed by the cremation of his body at the Good Hope Crematorium, East Coast Demerara.
The eulogy, which was delivered by Party Leader Raphael Trotman, M.P., chronicled the life of “struggle” over sixty years, by the once brave fighter for freedom, equality and justice for all Guyanese. Trotman called on the nation to recognise Boyo Ramsaroop and people of his ilk as rare gems whose contributions and memories have to be preserved in a formal and national way as their work transcended narrow political objectives.
Tributes were also paid by Chairman Khemraj Ramjattan, M.P who spoke of the Boyo Ramsaroop’s exceptional attributes of frankness, integrity and honesty, which are lacking in very many of our political leaders today, and by Moses Nagamootoo, M.P. and Opposition front-bencher, Winston Murray, M.P. who reminisced on experiences shared with their friend and comrade over several decades.
Two of his five children, now residing in Germany Roy Ramsaroop and Savitri Langwisch, and brother, Toolaram Ramsaroop shared touching personal anecdotes and remembrances of the life they shared with him.
As a first for the Party, its flag was ceremoniously draped over the casket and thereafter presented to the family as a mark of honour and respect.
