On Dec 18, 2009 we assisted fire victim Pawan Kumarie Autar with a quantity of clothing for her and her 11 months old baby son. Her home was completely destroyed by fire on Dec 12 around 7:30 a.m. just after she had left for work. She resided at 345 Martyrsville, Mon Repos, ECD and is a vendor at the Mon Repos market. When she was four months in pregnancy her reputed husband abandoned her. After the fire she left her little son in the care of one of her neighbours and she returned to Mahaica where she stays with a relative. She recently bought this destroyed property and owes the former owner $ 2M. A commercial loan to pay off this amount was in process with this property as collateral but now that the property is lost by fire it is likely that this loan will not be approved. This young woman is in dire need of help and encouragement.
On Dec 19 we sought to locate Onika Victor whose home at Gas Station Street, Soesdyke was destroyed by fire on Dec 15. Unfortunately neighbours could not tell us where she is presently residing. We will still make efforts to locate her with the view of giving some assistance. At the present time we are looking at one other case in Good Hope where an abusive husband set his home alight, leaving his wife and five children homeless.
