Cry the beloved Country
The Alliance for Change today learnt of the refusal by the minority Governing PPP/C to afford national hero and sculptor, Phillip Moore, an appropriate national funeral and burial at the final resting place for national heroes at the seven ponds.
The AFC is appalled that a national treasure of the standing of Phillip Moore would be denied the appropriate tribute and honour that is due to a fallen national hero. The spirits of the departed who rose in 1763 must now be restless and very disturbed that their blood and sacrifice seems unworthy of national acclaim some two and half centuries later.
Philip Moore satisfies any criteria for consideration for burial at the seven ponds.
The AFC urges the government to urgently reconsider their decision to refuse this son of the soil a fitting final farewell.
In the words of Robert Nestor Marley we say to the government “Won’t you help to sing these songs of freedom cause all we ever had was redemption songs, these songs of freedom.” [END]
