AFC CONDEMNS PPP WITCH-HUNT IN CHARGES LAID AGAINST GENERAL SECRETARY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Alliance For Change condemns in the harshest terms, the latest political attack on Mr David Patterson, the General Secretary of the party and the immediate former Minister of Public Infrastructure by the fraudulent People\u2019s Progressive Party (PPP) administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Mr Patterson responded to an invitation to visit the offices of the Special Organized Crime Unit (SOCU), where, on his arrival, was surprisingly told that he was being charged in connection to an allegation relating to the procurement process for the feasibility study of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.<\/span><\/p>\n

This referenced study was commissioned by the Government of Guyana in 2017, and thereafter, spurious and unsubstantiated complaints of a breach of procurement laws and corruption, were made by leading political operatives of the PPP, including Mr Juan Edghill.<\/span><\/p>\n

In is not surprising that Mr Edghill has embarked on a path of revenge and malignment against Mr Patterson which should be seen as a part of conspiracy by the PPP vendetta machine to frame and implicate members of the former APNU\/AFC government which brought progress and fundamental development to Guyana.<\/span><\/p>\n

The allegations made against David Patterson were thoroughly and independently investigated by the Guyana Police Force, and based upon advice tendered by the Police Legal Advisor, Justice (Ret\u2019d) Claudette Singh, it was determined that there was not an iota or scintilla of evidence to charge Mr. Patterson on, or to even entertain an allegation or complaint of illegality (Attached is a copy of the advice rendered in this investigation).<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, however, the PPP vendetta machine has chosen to ignore the device and launched a political tainted charge against David Patterson.<\/span><\/p>\n

This political witch-hunt is a clear pattern of autocratic rule by dictatorial regimes and must be repudiated by right thinking Guyanese of all races.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will not be deterred in our efforts to expose the PPP administration for its biases, corruption, racism, and outright political victimisation of the Guyanese people. The AFC will defend Mr Patterson and all its members against any spurious and malicious attacks orchestrated by the government, its agents and paid social trolls, who have in recent weeks launched a vicious attack against our members.<\/span><\/p>\n

The AFC will defend Mr. Patterson and all of its members, by all legal means and within the public domain.<\/span><\/p>\n
