The Alliance For Change is elated at the news that Guyanese born, Baroness Valarie Amos, has been named the head of the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs, by the UN Secretary General. Bareness Amos has had a long and distinguished career of public and international service in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, and has made her country proud through her achievements. Throughout her sojourns of her exemplary career, she has never forgotten her humble beginnings in Guyana, and has, at every opportunity sought to bring her skills and experience to bear to improving Guyana\u2019s development especially, in the areas of democracy and the rule of law. \u00a0<\/p>\n
