PRESS RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n AFC NATIONAL CONFERENCE SET FOR TOMORROW<\/strong><\/p>\n We are ready to go!<\/strong> The enthusiasm and excitement are at fever pitch in the Alliance For Change as we approach what may arguably be our great Party\u2019s most consequential National Conference which will be held tomorrow Saturday June 11, 2022 from 10 am. The process and agenda are in place and fully endorsed by all of the 285 Delegates and 50 observers slated to be in attendance, who represent groups across the ten regions of Guyana, the Youth For Change (YFC) and the Women For Change (WFC).<\/p>\n We once again take great pride in our Party\u2019s commitment to a transparent, free and fair election process. The fact that a long and strong list of candidates has been nominated and are vying for leadership positions in the party is a very positive sign.<\/p>\n These include:<\/p>\n Leader \u2013 Khemraj Ramjattan & David Patterson (nominated by 8 groups each)<\/p>\n Chairman \u2013 Catherine Hughes, Khemraj Ramjattan, Sherod Duncan, Juretha Fernandes<\/p>\n Vice Chair \u2013 Valerie Garrido-Lowe, Ricky Ramsaroop, Devin Sears, Catherine Hughes, Juretha Fernandes, Sherod Duncan,<\/p>\n General Secretary \u2013 Sherod Duncan, Neilson McKenzie, Juretha Fernandes, Ricky Ramsaroop, Catherine Hughes, Khemraj Ramjattan.<\/p>\n More than fifty members have been nominated and are vying to sit on the twelve person AFC governing council \u2013 the National Executive Committee. The Conference agenda includes: The Leader\u2019s report, the General Secretary\u2019s report, discussion on the Way Forward document, motions and election of office bearers 2022 \u2013 2024.<\/p>\n As we are all aware, it is not uncommon that political elections of this nature may sometimes engender bitter divisiveness and rancour. The AFC is most fortunate and proud to boast that even though our campaigns are being waged with fierce competitiveness, these have been conducted in a dignified, respectful and professional manner consistent with the party\u2019s grounding principles and standards as a liberal democracy.
