{"id":6639,"date":"2020-08-27T13:48:41","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T18:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/afcguyana.com\/afcnew\/?p=6639"},"modified":"2020-08-27T13:48:41","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T18:48:41","slug":"presumptive-opposition-leader-writes-intl-agencies-foreign-govts-reports-on-political-situation-and-campaign-of-state-terror-political-persecution-being-executed-by-illegitimate-ppp-govt-guyana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/afcguyana.com\/afcnew\/?p=6639","title":{"rendered":"Presumptive Opposition Leader writes intl agencies &#038; foreign govts-Reports on political situation and campaign of state terror &#038; political persecution being executed by illegitimate PPP govt &#038; Guyana Police Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">APNU+AFC Media Release<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For immediate release<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Wednesday, August 27, 2020<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Presumptive Opposition Leader writes intl agencies &amp; foreign govts<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">reports on political situation and campaign of state terror &amp; political persecution being executed by illegitimate PPP govt &amp; Guyana Police Force<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Presumptive Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Joseph Harmon, has formally written to the Secretaries General of the United Nations, Commonwealth, Amnesty International, CARICOM and the OAS and the Presidents of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Inter Parliamentary Union and Parlamericas, the Chair of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and a number of other international organizations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon has also written to several foreign countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and to the Prime Ministers and Leaders of the Opposition of all CARICOM countries and the European Union.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In his letter, dated August 26th, Mr. Harmon outlined that \u201cbased on the vast amount of evidence\u201d the APNU+AFC Coalition \u201cbelieves, and intends to prove, that the elections held on March 2 lacked credibility and legitimacy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon also provided to the heads of government and the international organizations, a summary of the dossier which details the thousands of cases of fraud, voter impersonation, irregularities, abnormalities and discrepancies which were uncovered. Mr. Harmon reported that the APNU+AFC regards \u201cthe \u2018installed\u2019 PPP regime as an illegitimate and fraudulent government that was not lawfully or democratically elected\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In his letter, Mr. Harmon also detailed the \u201ccampaign of state terror, intimidation and political persecution which has commenced and is being executed by the illegitimate and fraudulent \u2018installed PPP government\u2019 against APNU+AFC leaders, members and supporters\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon further reported to the foreign governments and international bodies that, \u201cthe Guyana Police Force, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and other state agencies are being either directed or pressured by the political directorate and their agents to target and persecute members of the opposition\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon concluded his letter by noting that \u201ca discriminatory and vindictive witch-hunt of professionals and public servants is underway\u201d in Guyana and that the APNU+AFC Coalition views all of the foregoing as \u201cgrave, worrisome and very disturbing\u201d developments.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon committed to keeping the foreign governments and all international organizations informed of the emerging situation in Guyana and alerted them that he will continue to engage on ways in which they can lend their voice and support to \u201ccontribute towards the restoration of democratic values in Guyana\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mr. Harmon also shared with all the heads of government and international organizations the fixed date applications and affidavits filed in the High Court by Mr. Christopher Jones and his wife Mrs. Christine Jones against the Commissioner of Police, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum, Inspector Serabo and the Attorney General.
