GEORGETOWN \u2013 A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change are\u00a0appalled at the recent revelations of senior officials, including ministers of the\u00a0minority PPP government using public funds to the tune of millions of dollars for\u00a0vanity medical procedures.<\/p>\n
While Guyanese must suffer with a poor public healthcare system Ministers\u00a0Pauline Sukhai and Jennifer Webster among others have been exposed for\u00a0spending multiple millions of dollars on procedures which have not been\u00a0deemed to be critical or life-saving.\u00a0At the same time that the PPP officials are hemorrhaging monies from the public\u00a0coffers on their teeth and other narcissistic procedures, ordinary Guyanese who\u00a0are faced with hefty medical bills are being turned away from government offices\u00a0when they seek public assistance.\u00a0The levels to which the disparity between the ordinary Guyanese and this elite\u00a0group of PPP ministers and their friends have reached is indeed obscene.<\/p>\n
APNU+AFC calls on all Guyanese to condemn this blatant abuse of the tax dollars\u00a0and reject the beleaguered PPP government at the May 11 polls. APNU+AFC\u00a0commits to responsible and equitable distribution of funds for medical\u00a0procedures for all Guyanese and also to a comprehensive overhaul of our limping\u00a0healthcare system.<\/p>\n
An APNU+AFC government will:<\/p>\n
(i) adequately staff hospitals, medical centres and medical outposts with\u00a0trained medical personnel<\/p>\n
(ii) adequately equip hospitals, medical centres and medical outposts\u00a0with modern equipment<\/p>\n
(iii) adequately furnish hospitals, medical centres and medical outposts\u00a0with medicine<\/p>\n
(iv) expand and enhance the regional health care system<\/p>\n
