GEORGETOWN \u2013 The APNU AFC thanks the Guyanese people for their<\/p>\n
tremendous support of the APNU AFC Unity Mash Band on Mashramani day last<\/p>\n
Monday.<\/p>\n
The warmth, love and support from the people along the Mash route was as<\/p>\n
overwhelming as it was encouraging. The people were eager to embrace, shake<\/p>\n
hands and take photos with the leaders, most especially President-In-Waiting<\/p>\n
David Granger and AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan.<\/p>\n
Other leaders who were also hailed by the wide cross section of Guyanese<\/p>\n
included Basil Williams, Cathy Hughes, Joe Harmon, Valerie Garrido-Lowe,<\/p>\n
Annette Ferguson, James Bond, Trevor Williams, Christopher Jones, David<\/p>\n
Patterson and Winston Felix.<\/p>\n
The response from the large crowd in the National Park was phenomenal with<\/p>\n
sustained applause and cheering for the duration of the two laps.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are truly heartened by the support from the people. They were eager to<\/p>\n
participate with us, join in the band and tell us how supportive they are. The<\/p>\n
people want a change in the way their national affairs are being managed and<\/p>\n
they are energized by the formation of the coalition,\u201d Granger said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter that incredible experience it confirmed to us as leaders that the formation<\/p>\n
of a unity government is precisely what the people want and we are satisfied that<\/p>\n
we have set aside differences and acted in their interests,\u201d Granger added.<\/p>\n
Ramjattan said afterwards that it was a demonstration of national unity in its<\/p>\n
finest form.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we saw here today, from the time we got onto the Mash route was a<\/p>\n
demonstrate of national unity with leaders and ordinary people of all ethnicities<\/p>\n
and backgrounds coming together to show the people of Guyana that we can all<\/p>\n
live harmoniously as one and that we can achieve and progress in a united way,\u201d<\/p>\n
Ramjattan said.<\/p>\n
APNU+AFC is confident that the support from the ordinary masses of Guyanese<\/p>\n
will continue to expand and multiply as we head closer to the May 11th General<\/p>\n
Elections.<\/p>\n
