The Alliance For Change is deeply saddened at the passing of veteran broadcaster and<\/p>\n
communication consultant Hugh Cholmondeley.<\/p>\n
The well spoken and mild mannered Cholmondeley may best be remembered as the person<\/p>\n
responsible for setting up the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and the training facility \u2013 CARIMAC at<\/p>\n
Mona Campus, Jamaica.<\/p>\n
A former General Manager of the Guyana Broadcasting Service, Cholmondeley also served as a media<\/p>\n
consultant for the Guyana Elections Commission.<\/p>\n
At the international level, he worked with the United Nations serving in Somalia as a coordinator for<\/p>\n
humanitarian aid and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n
In all of this, Cholmondeley remained a Guyanese at heart and a very humble person always willing<\/p>\n
to share his vast knowledge especially with young reporters and media workers, always willing to<\/p>\n
offer advice and encouragement. His legacy to the local, regional and international media fraternity<\/p>\n
lives on.<\/p>\n
For the AFC, Cholmondeley\u2019s passing has affected us deeply as he is the father of our very own Cathy<\/p>\n
Hughes.<\/p>\n
