{"id":3692,"date":"2012-04-29T09:28:52","date_gmt":"2012-04-29T14:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/afcguyana.com\/afcnew\/?p=3692"},"modified":"2012-04-29T09:28:52","modified_gmt":"2012-04-29T14:28:52","slug":"tone-down-the-vitriol-and-increase-the-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/afcguyana.com\/afcnew\/?p=3692","title":{"rendered":"Tone down the vitriol and increase the vision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- google_ad_section_end --><em>Dear Editor,<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Friday night we learnt of President Ramotar\u2019s position on events of the past week in parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Were it not for the presidential podium one can be forgiven for thinking that the nation was listening to the PPP\/C\u2019s candidate in the run-up to the last election rather than the President of all Guyana.\u00a0 The language deployed in the prepared statement read by the President came close to a declaration of hostilities rather than that of a leader of a culturally diverse nation.<\/p>\n<p>Our citizens would like to believe that upon ascension to the high office of President of this Republic, the responsibility to treat all citizens with dignity and respect would be par for the course. Friday night\u2019s address to the nation was not one of President Ramotar\u2019s best. It was short on hope and long on vitriol.
