By working together, our coalition started to put Guyana on the right path.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our government came to power on a simple promise: to deliver a good life for all Guyanese. A simple promise that every citizen should have the opportunity to be the best he or she can be, ensuring job security, access to quality public services and the promotion of social cohesion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Guyana we inherited was heading backwards. During their 23 years in government, the PPP\u2019s dishonesty and incompetence saw violent crime increase, infrastructure crumble and education standards fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

We did not create this mess that Guyana is in, but we will take responsibility for fixing it and building a secure society for all Guyanese people.<\/span><\/p>\n

By working together, our coalition has started to put Guyana on the right path.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have made a start, but we need more time to finish the job and build a better future for Guyana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Only by continuing to follow this plan will we be able to guarantee a better future for all Guyanese.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • 15,000 jobs created by the government\u2019s GO-Invest programmes.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Installation of 1,500 free computers in 172 community ICT hubs throughout the country.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The President 5 Bs Initiative provided 1,400 bikes, 29 buses and 10 boats, meaning thousands more children in rural areas are now able to attend school. With the East Bank bus route alone, families in Region Six have been able to save an average of $72,000 per day, $360,000 a week and $1.4 million a year.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Women have been appointed to 40% of cabinet positions\u2013double the global average\u2013as well as to state boards and constitutional commissions in significant numbers.<\/span><\/li>\n

    Economic Growth & Job Creation<\/h4>\n

    • 15,000 jobs created by the government\u2019s GO-Invest programmes.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • 220 investment agreements signed in agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, ICT, energy and mining, totalling $250B.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • $100M Revolving Fund is providing 2,727 loans and grants to support young entrepreneurs and their businesses.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Small Business Bureau helped support over 200 businesses through partial loan guarantees and grants worth around $180M in 2018, creating 535 jobs.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Launch of a Sovereign Wealth Fund to ensure oil benefits all Guyanese.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Economic growth is at an all-time high. Guyana\u2019s economy grew at a rate of 4.1% during 2018, hitting a record $689B.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      • The Emergency Response System expanded to an additional 52 stations.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Increase in narcotic confiscations, with over 800 kg of cocaine, 65,000 kg of cannabis and 1,900 kg of heroin seized in 2017 and 2018.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Transparency International\u2019s Corruption Perceptions Index saw Guyana\u2019s ranking rise from 119 to 93 since 2015\u2014 noted as one of the biggest improvers.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Introduction of Community Policing Group to build trust with local communities. In 2018, 262 arrests were made thanks to intelligence gathering and surveillance by this initiative.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

            • Over 50 new schools constructed, rehabilitated and expanded, providing thousands of additional school places for our children.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • 1,854 new teachers trained for the education system, including 417 in 2018 alone.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Improvements in educational attainment key subjects. 2018 pass rates for NGSA increased in mathematics (13.85% to 42%), sciences (27.55% to 42.4%), and English (41.62% to 57.4%), compared to 2016.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • National School Feeding Programme provided over 15,000 students with nutritious meals to help them to concentrate on their studies. A further 9,500 students are on track to benefit in 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Teachers are finally receiving better training and pay rises of around 10%.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

              • Over 29 km of canals and 42 km of irrigation channels have been built, rehabilitated or maintained to improve drainage and dramatically reduce the risk of flooding.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • 100,000 people gained access to clean drinking water for the first time.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • New water treatment plants built in Uitvlugt (Region Three), Diamond (Region Four) and Sheet Anchor (Region Six) to provide 45,000 people with 24-hour water access.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • New solid waste disposals in Bartica, Linden and Mahdia.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Five new pump stations to help drain 4,500 acres of farmland and help up to 200,000 residents.<\/span><\/li>\n
              • New wells and piped water access for isolated Hinterland and rural communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

                Healthcare<\/h4>\n

                • Expansion of medical facilities, with 22 new medical facilities added in 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Increased vaccine coverage to 90% of the population, with polio, tuberculosis and tetanus vaccinations all now above 98%.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Increased availability of retroviral treatments for HIV increased from 56% to 64% from 2015 to 2017. As a result, infection rates remain at a stable rate of 1.7% of the population.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Malaria cases have been reduced from 17,500 reported cases in 2014 to 11,000 cases in 2018.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Free distribution of 91,000 insecticide-treated bed and hammock nets.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Improved maternity care, resulting in a fall in reported maternal deaths by 50% in some areas.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • New drug procurement system has helped to improve the supply of essential medicines. Under the new process, average stock rates have increased from 60-75% to 95%.<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Increasing the number of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. There are now over 13 doctors and 36 nurses per 10,000 people.<\/span><\/li>\n
